The Southern Winds is a concert band for older adults. Most band members were active in their school music groups and in some cases, military bands, but put away their instruments for a long timethere are, however, a few who have always been musically active. You can see a list of the members here.
We are a community band of amateur musicians at least fifty years old who play for fun. Subject to instrumental balance, new members are always welcome and no audition necessary, Simply contact our Membership Chairman, George Cekis. The Band rehearses each Thursday from 2:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Northbrook United Methodist Church, 11225 Crabapple Road, Roswell, GA.
The director is Jim Moody, a veteran musician well-known in the Roswell area. Jim was Band and Orchestra Director at Roswell High School for more than twenty-five years, and in 1998 was honored by being named Georgia Music Educator Of The Year by the Georgia Music Educators Association.
