Day Four

I. Marilyn was, as a small child living in Baltimore, traumatized when her parents visited Hershey, Pennsylvania, without taking her and her grandmother along. She has suffered ever since from post-traumatic stress syndrome. The pyschological scars have been there for some sixty years. To bring closure to these unfortunate circumstances, we set out today for Hershey, and Chocolate World.

We began our visit with a tour in which we were instructed in the intricacies of making chocolate stuff.

Then it was lunch at the famed Chocolate Town Cafe:

Incredibly enough, there was a modest gift shop here, at which we spent several hours. At the right is Dick, his back having given way under the weight of his purchases.

II. We motored back to Baltimore, again for rest and refreshments, and, of course, more bridge. This was followed by dinner at Wayne's Bar-B-Que There we enjoyed a bon repast. (At the left you can see the waiter bringing Patty's dinner.)

After dinner, we repaired to Phillips for a return engagement at the piano bar. We returned much later to the famous Inn at the Colonnade to rest up for tomorrow's trip home to Atlanta. But naturally no rest until we played more late night bridge. The bridge lessons Dick and I have been giving Patty and Marilyn started to bear fruit and they finally began to win; difficult as it may be to believe, he and I actually lost tonight. Yet another long and enjoyable day.
